My own kidney cats, and what they taught me
The short answer
I've sat on my own kitchen floor with a cat in kidney failure more than once, and being a veterinarian did not make it easier. It did change what I tell clients. This page is the personal version rather than the clinical one, and it's the last one on the site still being written.
What did a vet learn from his own cats with kidney disease?
This is the one page on the site I haven't finished, and it's deliberate. It's about my own cats rather than about medicine, so it's the one page nobody can draft on my behalf. It's coming.
Everything else here is clinical, and clinical knowledge can be written down and checked. This page is the other thing: what it was actually like on my own kitchen floor, and what I got wrong before I started telling other people what to do.
Until it's written, the two pages that carry the same ideas honestly are knowing when it's time, which is adapted from what I tell my own clients, and afterwards.
